The zombies are back. Racers, Zombies, Obstacles, and Mud will mix on September 14th in Youngsville, NC during the 3rd running of The Zombie Escape at Panic Point. The 5k course runs through open fields and forest roads, with 20 obstacles that challenge racers to climb, jump, slide, crawl, swing, & scamper to the finish line.
This race has a twist. Racers are equipped with a belt and three flags. Zombies on the course will attempt to “infect” the racers by removing their flags as they race by. In order to receive an official time the racers must be in possession of at least one of their flags when they cross the finish line.
Racers receive a race medal, t-shirt, one free beer, and admission to the post-race party, with food from The Fire Pit, beer from White Street Brewing Co, and live music headlined by Runaway Cab. 600 racers registered in June alone, and race organizers expect a second consecutive sell-out.
After they finish, racers can get a measure of revenge at The Zombie Shootout, where they can shoot live paintball ammo at surprisingly nimble zombies ($4 for 20 shots). Also open will be a Kiddie Obstacle Course (free), Haunted Bus (free), Menacing Corn Maze ($1), and Bouncy House ($1). Panic Point is home to the Haunted Forest at Panic Point, which opens on October 4th for the Halloween season. A portion of the proceeds from the Zombie Escape at Panic Point will benefit two local charities, The Shepherd Youth Ranch and the Raleigh Jaycees.
