Watermelon Day

What's better on a hot summer day than a slice of cold watermelon? Join us August 3rd as we celebrate National Watermelon Day! Enjoy special meet the keeper sessions throughout the day and watch as our lemurs and farmyard animals receive frozen watermelon "pops" while our bears swim for whole watermelons! Learn how our keepers use watermelons as enrichment tools, how melon "pops" are made and the many ways our keepers use melons! 

Explore the science behind your favorite summer treat and join us in The Lab for a morning of melon experiments. Test a watermelon for Vitamin C, determine if melons are acids or bases and investigate watermelons using a vacuum chamber!
