Heroes Homecoming Veteran's Day Celebration

This year's Heroes Homecoming II will feature a series of touching ceremonies demonstrating that there is no stronger bond than the love between a father and son, a husband and wife, a soldier and his country. Nearly 1.5 million US soldiers left behind those they love to stand for their country in the Iraq War, and America's Hometown is proud to be hosting Heroes Homecoming II as a way to recognize their service and sacrifice.

The Veteran's Day Parade on Nov. 10 will be available live on WRAL-TV and WRAL.com.

The 3-day celebration, which will take place in Greater Fayetteville on Nov. 9-11, will be filled with touching ceremonies:

Friday, Nov. 9

• Book signing: The Making of Our Warrior, by Jeff Falkel (Airborne & Special Operations Museum, 4 p.m.)
• Flag Dedication Ceremony and Paver Unveiling (Airborne & Special Operations Museum, 5:30 p.m.)

Saturday, Nov. 10

• Veteran's Day Car Show (Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum, 9 a.m.)
• Veteran's Day Parade (Downtown Fayetteville, 10 a.m.)
• Opening Ceremony (North Carolina Veteran's Park, 12:30 p.m.)
• Family Day (North Carolina Veteran's Park, 1:30 p.m.)

Sunday, Nov. 11

• POW/MIA Vigil (Airborne & Special Operations Museum, 12 p.m.)
