Lungapalooza: We Can’t Wait to Exhale

Oct 21, 2012 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Event Location: Davison Lawn, Duke University, West Campus

Duke University’s West campus will be buzzing with more than students carrying backpacks.  Music will fill the air as Lung Transplant recipients, along with their friends, families and the community, assemble on Davison lawn to celebrate the gift of life.  Lungapalooza, the annual flagship fundraiser sponsored by the Lung Transplant Foundation, will be held on Sunday, October 21st from 1 to 4 p.m.  The event raises funds for research to extend the lives of lung transplant recipients.

In this, the event’s 3rd year, Lungapalooza will honor the memory of the event’s founder, Amber Wesemann, a double lung transplant recipient who lost her brave fight to rejection earlier this year.

“Amber was a visionary and a fighter committed to advancing research that will eliminate lung transplant rejection.  Through Lungapalooza and the work of the Lung Transplant Foundation, we are literally giving people the opportunity to breathe once again.” said Jeff Goldstein, LTF’s Founder, who is also a bi-lateral lung transplant recipient.

Lungapalooza will feature an afternoon of live music, including National Recording Artist, Barbara Weathers, Last Day Gray, Tracy Ward and Duke University’s United in Praise.  Participants will hear from transplant recipients, donor families and will be able to enjoy line dancing with Tina Brown, of Dance N2 Shape.  The family-friendly event offers fun activities for kids, a doggie fashion show, refreshments, and numerous raffle drawings, including a heavenly getaway at a Log Cabin in Highlands, NC!
