The Pope House Museum on 511 South Wilmington Street will be opening for tours on September 29th for the first time. The Pope House, the only African-American House Museum in North Carolina, was home to the first African-American doctor in North Carolina who also fought politically against Jim Crow. The house is also furnished with all original artifacts. Tours will be on Saturday with the first one starting on the hour at 10:00 and the last one starting at 2:00. Parking is free on Sat. in the parking deck just past the house.
